Last Week of School Activites

I have loved the response I have received from  my giveaway! Such fun to read all those comments. I most certainly read EVERY SINGLE ONE. My first year of teaching has been completed. My students last day of school was yesterday. Yes. . . I cried. I had convinced myself I wouldn't and completely did. They were a pretty awesome first class second graders. I had a class full of serious smarties. Had :(

During our last week of school we had a couple fun activities planned. The first thing we did, besides a lot of review practice, was clean our classroom and label everything! I brought in some plain old shaving cream and let the sweets play with a big glob of shaving cream. They thought it was the greatest thing ever. It was so funny. They were quizzing each other with math problems that they would write in their shaving cream. Talk about math made fun.

Then we made these awesome students decorated metal spoons. I bought this clay
Get it HERE

(1 pack was MORE than enough) I gave each student the choice of 3 colors and I gave each student about 1cm x 2cm of each color. It was a blast. I left the pictures of most of them in my classroom. I have a picture of one of them. They are super task to make. Once the students were done designing them I took them home and baked them in the oven for about 18 minutes. I think this is a great memory reminder of their second grade class. I bought my spoons at target for about $1.80 for 4. Next year I am going to write a letter to parents asking them to have their child bring one in. Anyway here's a picture of one:

By the way when you bake this in the oven this is exactly what it will look like. It is such a fun easy thing to do.

All I can say was it was so much fun and they get to take it home and they last for a VERY long time. I'm talking years. I have some that my boyfriend made when he was a little kid ~ and they are in perfect condition.

We also played Minute to Win It which I got from Reagan. Check it out HERE. I have 12 students and I had 3 helpers. I plot my class into three groups and had each group rotate with that helper to each Minute to Win It station.

That was our last couple days as a class together. My mind is reeling with all the things I want to do next year. I"m off to a sweet breakfast of gluten free waffles! I have Celiacs and gluten free belgium waffles is a BIG deal to me. YUM. My school also has their high school graduation today so I have to be all dressed up in cap and gown later! Have a wonderful Saturday!

Nothing like finishing your first year! Congrats :)
I still remember how much I cried and how puffy my face was when I said good bye to the parents.
